Fall 2012 Field Trip – Arch 301 – Material Landscapes

I’m trying to tie this all under the heading of ‘Material Landscapes’, but many of the places we visited weren’t necessarily about landscape, the big exceptions being James Turrell’s Sky Pesher and Taliesin (which I haven’t yet put together). The Breuer church is interesting under this heading because he actually did develop a language of brutalism, concrete and light that has created the landscape from which new buildings are reacting to at the St. John’s campus (Vincent James guesthouse and others).

I really wanted to start to develop graphics for each project, as I plan on doing the same in the future for my portfolio, some are cleaner than others.

Thanks for reading,

-Matthew
